any tips for a cross country want to-be?

I’ve been doing cross country for about two weeks now and it’s going well. I’ve always been pretty athletic and always loved runing. Today we ran two miles and I got 15:00 which isn’t really bad, but I’d like to improve. Any tips that will start working fast? Our first meet is Sep. 12th and I’d like to be at about 14:00 - 14:30 is this possible?

I’m in cross country too :) if you want to get better you should run outside of practice. doing push ups and curl ups helps, surprisingly enogh.

Answer #2

Anything is possible Maddie…:) Just remember to practice, practice, practice and you’ll be able to run two miles in less than 14:00-13:00 minutes very soon. You just have to keep pushing yourself harder, that’s all it takes. Don’t work yourself too hard or you might fall or get very sick from having lack of breath…and remember, if you enjoy what you’re doing you’ll definitely get better. Have fun!

By the way, you’re very lucky. I’m about 6’ feet and I have long legs so I’d be perfect for running but I’m too ashamed to run because I don’t like people looking at me.

Answer #5

whoa? 11 mins. yeah the fastest kid in cross country can run it in that, but I meant is it possible for me to improve that much in just like…a week?

Answer #6

well of course you can improve in a week! IK this advice is a little l8 but it helps 4 the long run, so how I do it in 11mins, well at track the coaches are like really brutal on us so they make us run a mile for warm up if you do it wrong you have 2 do another mile and so on but with each mile go a little faster all you have 2 do is think if I go faster I will get it done quicker and then I can rest a reward my self with water are s/thing else. Im like really short I have a long torso but short legs and when you have short legs it harder for you to run so in order to run faster I am always on the balls of my feat and I almost do high knees! its also helps with flexibility and to be flexibe.
