Are American universities hard to get in to if you're from the UK?

So I’m from the UK and considering applying for university in the US. I’d like to know every little detail about the transformation and the price etc. Do you need amazing grades? Is it expensive?

Answer #1

It’s going to be expensive most colleges in the U.S. cost anywhere from $2400 to $3200 per semester not including books which will probably add on about another $500 a semester, and supplies as well which maybe be around another $50-$100, most colleges in the U.S. don’t require amazing grades to get into I got into a decent college where I’m from coming out of high school with a 2.7 gpa, which is like b’s and c’s, it really just depends on the school.. Some schools require a 4.0 to get in some require a 3.0 or a 3.5 and some really don’t care as long as you have the money to pay. As far as being a student overseas you will have to apply for a student visa so you can go to school here and probably apply to the university as a foreign exchange student (maybe, I’m not sure how it works for all schools) unless you are planning to come do all 4 years and live here.

Answer #2

You’re automatically looking at about double the fees, being a non-American, but student visas are not too difficult to obtain.

Answer #3

American universities are actually easier to get into than universities in the U.K. I did my A levels and did horrible. I still got into a couple of schools in the U.S. If you pretty much bombed your entire high school, you can go to community college to begin with. Now, as for expenses. It depends. If you’re looking at private schools, you’re NOT looking at double the fees, you’re actually looking at the same fees. Private schools don’t care where you’re from. But they are expensive. You’re looking at between $30,000-$80,000 a year. Pubic schools are a little more expensive if you’re an international student. You’re looking at $3,000-$50,000 per year. It just depends. You would apply as an international student, NOT a foreign exchange student at the embassy once you get in to a school. The school will send you and I-20. Student visas are not that hard to get.
