Yes. Stretch marks are caused by rapid stretching of the skin, so you can get them from any number of things. Gaining a lot of weight, pulling skin with force that overpowers it's elasticity, muscle building, growth associate with puberty, etc. Stretch marks can appear any number of places aside from the abdomen as well; breasts, arms, back, thighs, and hips most commonly.
You sure can. Athletes get them and you are likely to get them because of growth spurt. Also if your weight highly increases or decreases you will have a chance of getting them too. If you are suffering from them check in your pharmacist for creams that contain cocoa butter, lanolin and wheat germ oil because they are very effective in healing damaged skin.
Yes. Excessive weight gain can cause them (but usually go away when you lose the weight). This is because the marks aren't really related to the pregnancy, but actually by the stretching of the skin. Basically dermal collagen is damaged and blood vessel dilation results in the formation of red or purple-colored stretch marks.

Also, stretch marks do NOT go away. They are a form of scarring on the skin caused by tearing, and therefore can only fade in color but never completely disappear.
