get a weenie dog, that way if the cat and the dog get into it, the cat has a fair fight! Weenie dogs are very loyal and rarely run away since they are at your side

I agree with phrannie, rather consider the space you’ll need for your dog, some dogs need large spaces and others can live in small spaces, a good dog (very clever and easy to train) is a bullmastiff, they are also bred for living in small spaces and are very good natured.

There’s lots of good breed big dogs…As far as the liking cats and not running away…you have to teach them, and get a fence.
