How to prepare to be a makeup artist when I'm 13 now?

Your never to young to think of what you want to do when you are older and preparing when your young is a good choice. Try practicing putting makeup on yourself and your friends. Learn what schooling you will need for the future and find good schools. Get good grades in high school so you can get scholarships to different schools. Basically just practice and practice.

Practice, Practice, Practice. Start studying now and soaking in as much information as you can..there are tons of books on cosmatology that you can get and go through and learn. Practice on your friends, take pictures and keep them in some sort of portfolio, over time you will see youself improving.

you can help the local salons and your school plays people with make up.when you will grow up you can join a college,but now you can practice at home and show it to everybody that you can do it.right now at this stage you can learn more about make up types,hair and skin and then you can draw sketches as well.

well if you have any little sisters..do their makeup..im sure they will want that…or practice every day on yourselve!…you could also observe the people that do makeup on other ppl at the mall or etc.

You’re never too young to be thinking of a career choice. :) Just infrom yourself, find out about the different types of brushes and what they’re for and how they’re used. I suggest if you want to shop for makeup do it at sephora and mac. There are youtube videos you can watch that show you things about applying make up and different products. :)

My friend and I do other peoples makeup she cuts hair I dye it. [She does know how to cut hair btw] Maybe when you get a lil better you can start doing your friends makeup for fun and ask them what they think and such:)

First off, I think it’s great that you want to prepare for a career at such a young age. I believe you can do it as long as you stick to it and never give up. There are a lot of TV shows that show professionals doing make-up, and explaining what they are doing and why, while they are doing it. One, off the top of my head is “what not to wear” on TLC. There are some more, but I can’t remember the names. Also, there are TONS of books, magazines, and articles, that can give tips, or complete step by step instructions on how to do make-up properly. My best advice is just to study and learn as much as you can from different resources, (TV, books, magazines, articles, videos). I wish the best of luck for you, and if you become a make-up artist, I hope you enjoy it. It can be a really fun and exciting career choice.
