Would you use a website where you couldn't find out who owned it?

To me, it’s not a big deal that my name is asociated with FunAdvice. However, several websites in our category you can’t find who owns it, what the name of the company is, etc. In fact, looking in most publicly available places turns up zero.

Personally, if the owners can’t own up to the fact that it’s their product, I think something is wrong. However, I’m biased…so, how do you feel? If the owners can’t be found, is it a sign you shouldn’t trust the company? Or is it not a big deal?

Answer #1

Nah…I would not sign up to it…

Answer #2

Not a big deal for me=P

Answer #3

yeah id like to know who owns, I mean if they cant put their name or let themselves known, then something isn right. if you dont want to be out there, then dont do a site!!!

Answer #4

It doesnt have to be obvious…however if someone wants to find out more about the product or service they are signing up for, they should be able to know the owner of the respective companies. Bottom line - for the general consumer, dont bother. But it shouldnt be hidden, just not actively strutted about

Answer #5

I Wouldn’t Care

Answer #6

I think its a big deal. there needs to be a face or name to put with website otherwise in my opinion its probably not a good site maybe on the shaddy side.

Answer #7

I don’t think it’s a huge deal because it’s never really something I’ve ever thought about - I’d much rather use a website though that the owner is actually involved with and does represent their product.

Answer #8

I wouldn’t go on it…if the owner’s won’t acknowledge publicly that it’s there site then they must not be very…um, the only word I can think of is…proud of it. Most of those sites you also have a hard time getting into contact with anyone that works there…something seems a little odd with that. At least here everyone knows where to go to if they have a problem, if not to you then at least to an advisor that will then get in touch with you.

Answer #9

I wouldn’t sign up for a site that didn’t have anyone running it for I’m afraid that whoever owns the site, they should at least put their name or something. I’m more comfortable with signing up for sites that actually have people running them. If the owners of these sites don’t want to make themselves known, then why bother making themselves public? So, no! I wouldn’t sign up for sites that don’t show the owners or tell their products. I just wouldn’t trust them.

Answer #10

I wouldnt really care. I’m a private person, if I had a website I probably wouldnt be advertising the fact… So it doesnt really bother me… I’ll say this though, it’s nice to have the personal touch, and I’d probably be more likely to stick to a website that has that…

Answer #11

I don’t think it’s a big deal because maybe they would be harrassed or annoyed by people who didn’t like their website or disagreed with the ideas on it, even if it WAS perfectly fine website.

Answer #12

I dont know who owns this site and even so

the person who does cud just put a diferent name or a diferent pic on it and we would never know
