Should I be worried if my doctor told me I probably won't live a day past 2 years if I keep stressing?

what would you do? :/

Answer #1

I think the whole point of your doctor saying that is to keep you from worrying about things. The operative part of their statement is “IF YOU KEEP STRESSING”. So, try not to stress out. I know that is easier said than done. If you cant seem to do this on your own, perhaps you may benefit from seeing a psychologist who can offer some advice and relaxation techniques.

I meditate and get bad thoughts out of my head, and I have people message me so that I don’t get stress.

Constant stress definitely isn’t good for you. Not only does it effect your physical health, but it also effects your mental health. Your sleep can be effected by stress, your appetite can be, your blood pressure, etc. Being stressed all the time weakens your immune system majorly, making you more vulnerable to illnesses. Stress can cause high blood pressure also, which isn’t very good for your heart health either. It can be the cause of quite a few things, so yes. Your doctor was being serious when they said it can kill you.

I would personally work on being less stressed out. Some things will cause you stress at some point either way, but dealing with situations in appropriate ways and eliminating unnecessary stress factors would help.

Some things you can try to de-stress are:

1.) Learn when to let go of things that you can’t change. 2.) Change situations you have the power to change. (ex: forgive people, work on finding solutions to troubles you’re having, etc) 3.) Take some time out to relax. Whether you sit down and watch a funny movie every day where that’s the only thing you focus on or go for a nice hot bath, anything soothing is good. 4.) Exercise. 5.) Talk to someone or vent. It may sound silly, but if you’re stressed out, talking it out with a friend or family member can make you feel a lot better. Not only do you get a load off of your shoulders, but your friend or family member could help you find a solution to your problems. 6.) Meditate or do something that can help clear your mind. 7.) Learn when to say “no”. If you really don’t have the time or energy to do something, it’s okay to say no. You don’t have to please everyone. 8.) Get organized. 9.) Remove things or people from your life that stress you out. This is obviously easier said than done, but if there’s someone or something in your life that constantly makes you feel terrible, having it or them in your life isn’t doing you any good. So if you can’t change the situation or thing, let go.

I hope things look up for you.

My advice on how to relieve stress/ depression is what I usually do and it works well for me. What I do is: go to the restroom switch the lights off make it completely dark(seal the door with towels) so dark that u can’t see ur hands in front of ur eyes! And just think about all the people that have it worse than I do and feel how bad a blind person has ( i literally have cried doing this). I just start feeling for them and all the others who are less fortunate than I am. It gives me this feeling that i have no right to feel stressed and bad and i appreciate what I have. and come out of the restroom a brand new person. This has helped me countless of times when i have become depressed and sad. I really hope it helps u too.

Stress can cause a lot of physical diseases. And it can make existing diseases worse. So your best try is… change your life, move somewhere where you can relax easier. Some calm place. Get a job that doesn’t stress you. Or at least not that much. Rethink your ambitions and decide what you really need. Remove every unnecessary or unreachable plan from your life. Get a sports or hobby that will balance your moods. A single one - and one that you really like.

And try to be humorous about things. If something goes wrong, well, it’s not a catastrophe. It happened. You can’t turn back time and un-happen it. So just shrug, laugh about yourself and see what you can do to improve the situation.

The problem with stress in life is often this: You have an idea about how things are supposed to be. And you feel unwell if you can’t make them be what you think they should be. I was like that, too. I’m now trying to find the best possible solution to everything. With possible meaning that I can do it without wearing myself out. Scale down your expectations. As in… scale down what you expect yourself to be able to do. Don’t look at what you didn’t manage. Look at what you did already and be proud of it.
