Why won't Skype work?

It can be network problem when your network services working not properly then it will be and also check your ISP .

Couple other things you can try to narrow down the issue. Some routers don’t like VOIP connections or sometimes need certain settings turned on make everything play nice. Trying hooking your computer directly into the modem and see if skype works. If it does your router is the issue. Search on google for something like “router make/model” + skype wont connect. See what you can find.

If it still doesn’t work, is there more than one computer in the house? If so try running skype on another computer. Or get a friend to bring over a laptop. If you know someone with a laptop that uses skype at home that would be perfect, because you will know then that skype does work just fine on their laptop, so it would have to be an issue with your network. If you still can not connect to skype on any computer in the house, w/o a router hooked up it could be an issue with your ISP (Internet Service Provider), as Jinaa suggusted. Try giving them a call.

Now if another computer can connect, with the router hooked up, but you can’t its an issue within your computer. Temporally disabling any firewall and see if skype connects. If so, you need to configure your firewall to let skype through.

Basically its all a process of elimination, there are a lot of elements that go into letting anything connect to the internet, and you have to narrow down to which one is stopping skype from connecting.
