I was a cheerleader and yes you can kill your baby. Especially if your a base. To much pressure as any heavy lifting will put pressure on your baby.

Uh, it CAN- if you fall you can kill your baby. Plus the rigorous workouts before hand can do damage (especially jumping jacks and a lot of abdominal twists and stretches. If another girl falls and kicks you in the belly, that’s likely to hurt your baby. Also, you need to be conserving nutrition now- and cheerleaders burn off way too many calories for you to healthily support a pregnancy. It’s best to just sit this season out.

If you want to take a more ‘selfish’ (can’t really think of a better word) approach and view the damage you could do to yourself then here is a likely possibility… If you jar your body hard enough- say from a fall or something- it IS possible to rupture/tear the placenta. That means a risk of severe blood loss to you, and possible death to your baby. Plus, in a few weeks, it’s going to be uncomfortable to do much intense physical activity.

This is responsibility of being a mother- despite what you want for yourself, you do not come first ever again. Not until you’ve successfully sent your future adult into the world. It is all about protecting this little baby now and seeing fit that he or she has the best possible entrance to this world that you can give. Take your prenatals, and see if there is a pregnant yoga or pregnant aerobics class you can sign up in to keep your figure and fitness for next season, if you’re actually able to go back to school.

Also, you should tell your parents. It’s time to start being an adult about this- they have a right to know if you’re still living under their roof. If something medically goes wrong with you, they need to be able to tell your doctors that your pregnant. Plan for the what if’s.

Maybe even instead of cheerleading, you could get a part time job and save up a bit of money! That’d be really nice to have on hand once your little one gets here. My little one is 8 months old and he costs me about $800 a month once you factor in food, health insurance, co-pays, diapers (good grief!!!), clothing, medicine, toys, books, and other baby necessities. Squirrel away what you can now and good luck! They’re so very very worth it.

all vigorous activity can be harmful for the baby and the fact that you are 16 ups your chances for miscarriage a well. The younger you are while pregnant the more likely you are to miscarry. If you want to keep this baby you have to start telling your friends and family around you so that they can be supportive and help you out with what you need like checkups for the baby to make sure everything is healthy.

Answer #4

If you are physically active (noncontact sports) while not pregnant you can continue your activity as far into the pregnancy as you like, so long as there are no complications. Have you seen a doctor yet to check for any problems?

Cheerleading is definitely a contact sport. The exertion won’t hurt you but the potential for injury is high, and any injury you sustain will affect your baby.
