Can you be Christian and Wiccan?

can you be a christian and still be a wiccan?

Answer #1

No - Wiccan believes there is a God and Godess - contrary to the Bible.

Answer #2

But if your parents dont like it then study it secretly!!! << - Where’s the respect and ‘honor your parents’ in that ? - why study more - that itself speaks volumes.

Answer #3

no that is called syncratism- the combining of to or more religions and that is wrong

Answer #4

I really need help with this guys please I love God so much but I really want to try this what should I do I’m not going to bouble cross God btw.

Answer #5

no- the 2 are for the most part opposite.

…ehhh? The opposite of Christianity would be Satanism. Which is completely different from Wicca.

christian is not somehting you call urself it’s a lifestyle same with wiccan

…EHHH?? People ‘call themselves’ by their faith all the time.

Answer #6

I dont see how you would be a “hypocrite”. I, my self being christian, think that if you pray to God and He lets you know that it is alrite, then GO FOR IT!!! Let Him tell you personally.

Answer #7

underwaterophelia, basic differences are that Christians worhip God as the Creator. Wiccans have an entirely difference concept of God, and worship multiple gods or goddesses of the earth or moon.

God Christian - Monothesitic - One God, the God and Creator of all Wicca - Duotheistic - God and Goddess, manifested in human priests and priestesses.. There are variations : Sun and Moon; Pre-eminent Goddess (Maiden/Mother or Moon, Earth, and Sea + God of forests and animals); Complete Goddess. The gods of wicca are based on ancient, pre-Chirstian gods of Britain.

Life/Afterlife Christian - Each soul unique and individual, created by God, once to live and once to die. Promis of resurrection to a new heaven and new earth. Wicca - Reincarnation, not neccessarily to the same species.

Practices Christian - Prayer to God, through the resurrected Christ. Wicca - Calls upon non-Christian gods.

There are also numerous Biblical injunctions against witchcraft. Here are three of the most well-known.

Deuteronomy 18:10-11 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

Galations 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Micah 5 But you, Bethlehem, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel. He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; And he will be their peace.

Your hand will be lifted up in triumph over your enemies, and all your foes will be destroyed.

I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells. I will destroy your carved images and your sacred stones from among you; you will no longer bow down to the work of your hands.

Wicca and Christianity are mutually exclusive religions. They worship different Gods, pray to different dieties, engage in different practices, call upon different names.

Answer #8

Unless you want to start your OWN denomination…

You could take ‘good’ aspects of different religions and merge them into one practice. That might be cool… like what Chuck Norris did with martial arts…

shrugs

Answer #9

Moonlight, You are aware that Witchcraft ( Wicca ) or whatever you want to call it is forbidden in The bible. . . . As a Christian that was once a wiccan I can tell you, if I still practiced Wicca and called myself a Christian I would be a Hypocrite. . . Same goes for anyone else since the Very Moral structure of the two religions differ so greatly. . .

Answer #10

underwaterophelia- Have you ever heard Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Deu 8:19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. What you suggest is against the very fiber of Christianity.

Answer #11

* How so? Witches believe in a horned God (Cernunnos, Hern, Pan ) and A Goddess. Christians ( other than Catholic ) believe in only God. Witches pray to the Elements, Christians pray only to God in heaven.

Answer #12

umm well im myself christian, born and raised, I believe in everything that the christians also believe in, but im also a heavy believer in witchcraft, I just actully found out that all the women on my moms side actully come from wiccan culture and beliefs…maybe im just a hipocrit

Answer #13

Hey lady, for the most part, I agree with rnealw and the rest on this one. But I think in THIS universe, you can be anything you want. Anythings possible, just don’t expect other people to agree with it or to take too kindly to it.

Answer #14

No. . . . that’s like asking if you can be Hindu and Christian at the same time or Islam and Christian I’m a Christian but I was once Wicca and Can tell you it is not possible to Be a Christian and a wiccan at the same time.

Answer #15

The two religions seem contradictory.

I’m sure that it is possible to synthesize a worldview based on elements of both religions but I’m not sure the result would be deemed Christian or Wiccan by the mainstream of either.

Answer #16

The religions contradict each other & defeat the purpose of joining a religion.

OHHH LOOPHOLE ALERT!!!

  • select the parts you believe in from each religion and be that. ^_^

I actually approve your view on this, underwaterophelia, sorta like “why be black or white, when you can be grey?”

shakes head does that even make sense???

Answer #17

no you cant it would be too hard to be both and both religions have different beliefs. you could be jew and christian, that would work. but not wicca and a chirtian (damn! I get spell it- die!) no oddence.

Answer #18

No it’s offincive to Christains(though a lot of their practicies come from the craft anyways)

Answer #19

I know these facts, I just don’t know why they force the two religions to be at odds. Why not believe in both? It’s certainly possible.

Answer #20

There has been references to those known as “Christian Witches” But the word itself is an oxymoron. If a person were to attempt to combine both, then very important lessons in both would have to cancel each other out…Simply can’t be done.

Answer #21

Nope! Any “spelling” done may work but is it right? Man does such and says,”See what I did?”. Christians give the Lord all credit. Prayers are for the obedient who want to do the will of the Father Above and if it is for healing, reconciliation, restoration, etc, lift the people or the circumstance up to the Lord and in His perfect timing, He moves.

You can’t have Christ and _. If you can fill in the blank with any religion, then it is duality, and there is only One way!

Same goes for the Masons who say they are Christians also. Sorry! No work.

Answer #22

Im sur that if you’re parents say you can become wiccan, drop Christianity I am a wiccan so you might want to study more first…But if your parents dont like it then study it secretly!!!

Answer #23

sigh if you can’t devote yourself to a religion why stick with it? Where’s the honor in that? It seems you’re encouraging false practitioners of Christianity yet you go around & complain about how a lot of people claim to be Christians & really aren’t. Hypocritical?

Answer #24

you can belive in anything you want If you want to belive in God and Jesus and think its ok to use magick as well go for it. you shouldn’t have to change what you belive in to fit a religion if a religion happens to go along with your belifs than so be it. You dont have to be religious to be spiritual.

Answer #25

No.

Answer #26

How so?

Answer #27

No. The practices of wicca are christianity are at odds with each other.

Answer #28

no- the 2 are for the most part opposite. christian is not somehting you call urself it’s a lifestyle same with wiccan

Answer #29

it is no a simple yes or no answer because in wicca there is a god and godess whom have may names there is not may gods and goddess but I am a christian who practices wicca so I believe the answer is yes but it is really determined to be both. you are worshipping the christian god just in a different way and for you to desise why do you let others say what is right and wrong because they have lived it, because of socity either way others are bossing you around because of their bielfs you must try it for your self and see it is after all your life not their

Answer #30

yes you can actually I believe its called being a Pentacostal wiccan

Answer #31

Probably not, but you can believe whatever you want, and I believe it’s completely possible to be a Christian while practicing Witchcraft. Funmail if you’d like.

Answer #32

Wiccan Culture? that’s a new one to me.
