Why wont anybody ever talk to me?

In school I sit by myself every day and nobody ever even bothers to come talk to me. I started school in september and not one person will talk to me. Yeah im shy, but if they would give me the time of day I would talk to them… Do they think I stink? Dress funny? Can someone give me advice on what might be the case?

I agree. You should make some friends with some nice people. not with the wrong kinds of people. it takes courage, but I guarantee you’ll like school better with nice friends. ;) Hope I helped.

I guarantee theres several people in your school (and I mean GUARANTEE) who are thinking the same exact thing you are thinking. Mainly because I work in a high school and I hear these things from people all the time. And then I just want to get them all together so they can be friends. So, go talk to them… Talk to people. Say hi. Ask for the date. The time. Homework. Compliment them. Talk about the teachers you like. Make small talk. Talk about your weekend. Talk about something interesting you heard, listened to, watched, read. Whatever… What’s the worst that can happen? They’ll think you’re weird? So what? You’ll move on. There will be people who are in a bad mood. Who have mean personalities. Just plain nasty people. But there’ll be a lot more nice people who would be willing to get to know other people. Get involved in an activity. When you do projects, get to know the people you’re doing projects with. Talk about stuff other than school. Ask to get together with people to study. Study groups are about socializing, not studying. Talk to someone before your lunch period, then ask if you can sit with them for lunch. I know this isnt easy. I know it is beyond scary. But the thing is, the worst that can happen is they will say no. Then you need to kinda say ok, there’s 1000 other kids in this school. If I keep trying, even in 1 in 1000 odds, that means there is one person who will like me (and I’m betting the odds are a lot higher than that).
