Why - Is it so wrong to want another baby so soon?

Is it wrong to want another baby so soon after my first son died? Joshua died on the 15th October 2009. I miss him so much and there is a hole in my heart that nobody will ever fill. But all I can think about is having another baby. Joshua was only 15 weeks old when he passed away and I miss him so much. I hurt everyday and eventhough I know another baby will not replace him nor do I want it to; a part of me thinks maybe it will help numb the pain. Does this make me selfish? I am still with Joshua’s father and he too says he wants another child. I have already had a miscarrige since I gave birth to my son but I cannot control the feelings I have. I would do anything to feel needed again. I really want another baby. What do you all think? Xx

I’m SO sorry :( I really hope that you start to feel better soon, hun.

my boyfriend’s father, who’s actually passed away, was born exactly 9 months after his brother had died. it’s normal to feel the way you do, and I thought it might help to know that you’re not the only one :)

Oh honey…I am so sorry for your loss. Of course there’s a hole in your heart. Losing a child is the biggest loss there is. There is nothing at all selfish about wanting another child…and what a blessing that your man feels the same way.

that is not selfish at all. you want to be able to hold a baby close to you again. you want to be able to have the motherly feeling again. and maybe having another baby will ease some but not all of the pain. I think it would be nice for you and him to try for another one. good luck and so sorry to hear about joshua. take care.

It’s not wrong at all. Of course you want another child to fill the hole the first one made. I mean, of course this next child won’t replace him–no child ever will, but the next child can help you ease some of the pain. I hope things work out well, and you have beautiful and healthy children. ^^
