…72% of our audience, registered members, etc, are based in the US. Therefore, the site, by nature of that audience needing to sleep, work, go to school, etc, will be most active during the day…and, the least active at night.
From our logs, we get about 4 thousand visitors in the slow part of the night for the US, which is 3-4 AM…during the busy part of the day, we get more than 14,000 visitors per hour. That’s why it seems less busy :)

No, they aren’t. Take a look at the ‘members’ link in the upper right, it sorts, by default, by last login to FunAdvice.
