Does he like me or not? I really can't tell!

So there’s a guy I really like, and we are friends, but it’s hard to explain. He treats me differently. I trying to talk with him and he’s super nice but it’s like a wall goes up every time we talk and with everyone else he is so outgoing and talkative. And he’s really physical too like he will high five and hug every one. And it is super rare to get that from him. I don’t understand why this really out going guy is suddening super shy when I talk to him. He’s like struggling for words and looking around, shoving his hands in his pockets. THEN he’ll be like this for weeks and then suddenly he’s super nice. It happens all the time, but most recently he went on a trip for a week and the first time I saw him he went right up to me, gave me a hug, wouldn’t stop smiling and just talked to me. Then hes been mostly distant again since! I really like him, and I flirt a little but don’t show it a lot. I’ve known him for a while and I try to be nice and chat with him and he’s so different with me. I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong :/ help?

Subtlety often goes unnoticed by the male population. If you want to know, or if you want him to know that you like him best way is to be outright and obvious. If you really must know whether or not he likes you, ask him. From what you supplied, it could be anything; nothing that absolutely screams infatuation and nothing that absolutely disproves it. Most a person can do via the internet is guess. Only he will really know.
