Why does my son see a red haze?

My son wears glasses for long sighted and the prescription is correct, but sometimes when he is writing he gets blurred vision then when he looks up at the white board everything has a red haze, this makes him feel dizzy and sick. Then it passes and everything is back to normal, he is 10. I have done a test for colour blindness which was ok.

wow, thank you that is excellent. My daughter has to use a purple sheet to read for visual stress, I never connected the two. Will give the green sheet a try and speak to the clinic that diagnosed my daughter. Thanks again :)

Hi, its me again… I was right about everything except the color of the clear sheet… you use green to cancel out the red. He has gotten used to it over the years but he still doesn’t like to read because of it. I hope you can find some better answers somewhere and if you do please let me know!!

My husband had that problem I believe, I need to ask him when he wakes up and I will write on here again to confirm. But if it is the same problem its caused by overfocusing and only a few eye doctors were able to diagnose him properly. To help with the haze he had to read with a red tinted plastic see through sheet (like a transparency sheet for a projector). This may sound like it wouldn’t work but surprisingly it cancels out the red. I will ask my hubby to make sure this is correct and get back to you. :)
