Why do people come onto Fun Advice?

rather than the other site ran by Yahoo I am just curious as I’m new here and the sites are quite similar.

As one of the co-founders of FunAdvice (and, a former Yahoo employee) there are a ton of differences between the two services.

For one, the obvious, we have a lot more social networking type features…if you’re into that kind of thing.

Our site search, also, is the best (imho) of all the question & answer sites…I’ve compared most of them, none work as well as ours (but, we have less data than say Yahoo).

Yahoo doesn’t have custom profiles, we do ;) I could go on but, it really depends on what you’re after…if the guy who runs the site participating is a bonus, then, you won’t get that anywhere but here (most are run by corporates who are nameless…or lack even an ‘about us’ page that identifies the staff, co-founders, etc).

Also, our mission statement is something near & dear to my heart, make the world a better place. I’m not just in this for money.

Thanks for signing up…and, the best members who join are typically referred by friends so if you could help us spread the word, I’d be eternally grateful :)

It’s better here.

I’m a Yahoo refugee, as are many of the people on here.

The staff here are friendlier, and actually care about the users here. There aren’t silly violations for doing nothing - when you get a violation it’s for good reason. The trolls don’t run the show here. The site creators are always willing to listen to new ideas and suggestions. There’s no limit on how many questions you can ask or answer based on your level.

Those are a few reasons I stayed…I’ve never returned to Yahoo.

Thanks - I think I’ll stick around. It’s a shame that this site isn’t more widely advertised as I came across it by accident!
