Why are my brothers so annoyingly overprotective?

Im fourteen and I have three older brothers (20,18,16) and they are extreamly over protective of me. I really do appreciate that they care about me and want to protect me. And most of the time I like having them there to watch over me but honestly I feel like theyre going to far because the act more like dads then brothers. They always treat me like im four years old. I cant wear anything they dont approve of and they wont let me date. I once got invited to a highschool party and sadly one of my brothers was there when he saw me flirting with a group of guys that he knew he came over put his arm around me turned to the guys and told them that I was his baby sister and I was off limits. He made sure he enfisized the baby. He then dragged me to his car and took me home. Another brother of mine was at the mall the same time as me but I didnt know it. When he saw me flirting with a guy he sent one of his friends over to pretend to be my boyfriend. The other boy backed off and my brother made my friends and me stay with him until he took us home so he could keep an eye on me.why do they get so overprotective of me and how can I get them to back off just enough so I can have my own life but still let them be apart of it.

They’re trying to protect you from testosterone pumped guys who are all after the same thing. Be grateful for the protection, but let them know that you want a chance to explore the world of dating and boys. Worst comes to worse, you’ll have to threaten some weirdo that your brothers will beat the living tar out of him if he keeps harassing you. Talk it over with them.

My older brother is the same way (18) You should be thankful. They know what guys are thinking and want to protect you from it. YOu may want to try and talk to them. you may not be now, but I bet they will help you later in your life and you will greatly appreciate it. Hope I helped.

Um. Be grateful that you have someone looking after you. They know what guys are like. They’re gonna keep you from the jerks. And they just want to protect you. Be glad that they care so much for you. Your brothers have experienced more than you have. They know what can happen if you’re not careful… And you’re the baby sister. Tol. Of course they’re gonna be overprotective. They probably adore you. And at least you have people who you can go to for help. Especially as you’re now in high school. I have no one. Tol. And I moved to a new high school. If guys are being jerks to me, I’m gonna have to deal with it myself. Unlike you. You get support from 3 older brothers. So be glad. Even though it may seem like a bother now, wait like 2 more years. Then you’ll be so freaking glad that they’re there for you.

they are only over protective because you are their little sister. be happy they are not many are. mine for instance aren’t.

It may be annoying now but there are so many things that happen to young women your age that deeply regret it. You may not see the bright side of your brothers now and they might be going too far but I think it is still a good thing.

To answer your question of why, it is just because they care and love you and do not want to see you with any loser of a guy. But then again I doubt any guy has to potential to meet their standards lol.
