Who said the earth is only 6000 years old???

I definitely believe the earth is around 4.5 billion years old, but christianity is only been around for 6000 years. so if christianity is 6000 years old, what about all that people who lived before christianity even excisted? did they believe in another god then?

In 1999 the world population just passed 6 billion, 1985 population just passed 3 billion, 1800 population just passed 1 billion, 1ad world population was around 250 million according to the censuses the governments taken at that time. at the current growth rate, considering all the wars etc, it would take approximately 5000 years to get to the current population from 2 (adam and eve) original people. we all know that humans have existed for far longer than that! if adam and eve were the first 2 people on earth, where did all the other nationalities come from chinese, indian, aborigines, black people, white people and the list can go on and on!!
We all know that only a chinese woman and chinese man can make a chinese baby. and why are those nationalities not mentioned in the bible?

Genesis was written by moses 1450 bc. egypt formed c.3100 bc. the earliest chinese civilizations was c.7000 bc. why are we only counting the years since jesus was born 2010 years ago?

So many questions, what to believe?

Answer #2

Only the most ignorant believers think that the earth is only 6000 years old, and that adam and eve actually existed.

Answer #3

God isn’t real. Although, this earth wasn’t created by just an atom. After all, you do need energy to create an atom. So where did the energy come from? I believe Aliens created this earth, and they are living somewhere in this universe- light years away. I also believe they come to this planet and watch over us every now and then. I believe they have been doing this ever since they created this earth.

what!? flaws in christianitys claims?! this is unbelieveable. haha. um yes the dates you mentioned dont add up. I read that genetically eve and adam would have had to have an age difference of thousands of years or something. before christianity paganism was popular so yes they believed in different gods. and apparently satanism was the original religion? according to some satanist website I was on.

Answer #6

you read that satanism ws the original religion on a satanist website. What an objective source.

actually Christianity is only about 2000 of years nationality would of bee do to the humans adapting to different climates and regions, but then again, that would also go against creationist theory hence it’s a form of evolution. Another thing to consider is if there were only 2 man, and 2 of every animal at one point, it’s highly unlikely the population rate would be so high. Look at the cheetah, the population was reduced to only 17 at one point. Their seamen is extremely infertile, and they’re numbers are dwindling, though not quite as bad as it was when they’re were down to 17 obviously. Also, incest can put offspring at risk for having disabilities. I’m pretty sure at least half the worlds population would of been autistic if the story of Adam and Eve were true. And probably a lot more if the population were reduced to only four; as said in the story of Noah’s Ark.

OK - Chrisitanity has only been around about 2000 years. Basically, if you consider the Bible to be totally literal, as some do, and figure out the age of the earth based on Biblical terms, the earth has been around some 6000 years since it was created. On the other hand, many - and I am one - believe that the Bible has both literal and figurative books in it. Based on this view, the earth could be any age. The Bible does not negate science, nor does science negate the Bible. They actually complement each other. As far as the different races and nationalities - the Bible was written by a particular set of authors for a distinct audience. There are numerous peoples mentioned in the Bible, but the general target audience was the Jews. Finally, we only count the years since Christ’s birth (approximate) in basically Western, Christian countries. There are other calendars available, but the one we use is the most commonly accepted - not only because of religion, but because of the need for a common business and social calendar, as well. Ultimately, believe what you want - others can give you their info and ideas, but you have to make the decision about what and who to believe. I’m Roman Catholic, so I believe in God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe in creation, but I also believe in evolution. The two are not mutually exclusive. I believe that God loves us, and that He will forgive us when we sin, if we ask Him to. There’s lots to religion, and the more you learn the more there is to know!

most people (like religionisbad said) before christianity were of pagan beliefs. Its important to remember that Christianity was definitley NOT the first religion. In fact, most of the stories in the bible and traditions/holidays that are christian related came from other and much older belief systems. The christians back then proceeded to prosecute the people whom they had borrowed their ideas from.

As to the Adam n’ Eve story… In my religion we have a creation story as well. And we have many pantheons of gods and godesses that can be whorshiped. However, most of us do not take the story literally, or the gods/godesses literally. They are a way to explain things. Like one giant metaphor. So basically, maybe the stories in the bible were never MEANT to be taken literally. I mean, the stories sound too crazy to have really happened. But then people started to forget what to teach as a metaphor and as a real event. Try looking at religion as a mask to put on the face we cant see. Thats what most religions do in the first place. We don’t know for sure whats out there, so we put a face to it. Some people call it God, some Allah, some the Triple Godess. Basically, the problem lies with the storied being taken literally. Think of the bible as a nice story with many good lessons (kind of… some gruesome parts too…LOL)

* Only the most ignorant believers think that the earth is only 6000 years old, and that adam and eve actually existed.

Something like ~70% of Christians believe in a literal Adam and Eve, but those who think the earth is only 6000 years old are about 20% of Christians. But then again, the median IQ is 100, so what more could we expect?
