Who on this site will try to give up something for Lent this year?
Most Christians that observe Lent, try to make some kind of personal sacrifice, which essentially is supposed to remind us of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. With the kind questions I see on here, I doubt I will even get a respond, but I really would like to know if this has become an outdated practice or are there still people out there that try to sacrifice even if it is something small. As for me, I try every year, to keep away from gossip and cursing. ;)
well of course ill TRY to give something up, but I usually cave within a week :)
I don’t personally because I’m agnostic, but I do know people on the site that do. One gives up chocolate, another gives up texting I think, and there are others out there. It isn’t a lost practice, but it has become a minority. Nevertheless, don’t feel like you’re alone. There are ‘’lenters’’ everywhere :) Did I make that term up? Haha.
im giving up pizza and dark soda. so far im doing good. I don’t plan on caving in this year. cus good things come when you make a sacrifice. also dont eat meat on fridays!
well I don’t observe lent because I am not a catholic! but there are certain things that I stay away from temporarily just to test my faith out! for example at times I will sustain from all sorts of media for at least a few days. and once you do that you have no idea how hard it is to actually keep yourself from watching any television! others have food fasts, where the sustain from food! but my recommendation would be media for a few days try it out, its tough but it definitely makes you think and definitely makes you give up something you might really enjoy!
