How to deal with someone you love in prison?

I would just like to know how some girls deal with their boyfriends, husbands, or anyone that they love who is in jail or prison?? My fiance will be in for at least a year maybe more. We have been together for 3 years and just got engaged. I love him to death and will do anything for him but I just can’t seem to deal with him away from me for so long. He has been gone for 8 days now and it’s just so hard. We have wrote letters and call eachother and also visit eachother for right now but we aren’t sure if we will be able to visit for 45 days so all we will have is phone calls and letters. It’s just so hard from going from being inseparable to not seeing eachother for that long.

my brother went to jail and it was difficult and I cried so much at first, but it gets easier. you get used to it and the phone calls and visits help a lot. keep your chin up and just count down the days. friends are life savers (of course), I don’t think I could have gotten through it without my friends. good luck

You just have to support him and be strong. Try not to get on his nerve because he will probably go off at you. Not saying he wants to go off, but he really doesn’t want to be where he’s at so that can get him depress and just upset at times. Just talk to him and try to keep him up and let him laugh. Everything will he fine okay…

oh I did already!! cause at first he seemed like he was having a great time there joking with the guy and things cause he knew two of them from his highschool so I told him he better not be making friends with them

I have had family in there and the truth is that you have to cope or it doesnt get any better

basically yeah but after a while its gets easier but tell him not to make friends cause friends owe friends favors always!
