where (if) are pagans mentioned in the holy bible?

During my childhood I was taught that pagans were “bad” or “evil” as an adult I’ve become more curious as to why? Research that I’ve done states that the word pagan means “country dweller”… are pagans even mentioned in the holy bible if so where?

Answer #1

pagans had holidays like xmas etc and christians took them and claimed them as their own.

not being mean or anything but its true.

early indicators suggest christ was born in the spring but his ‘birthday’ moved to december to coincide with the pagan ritual holiday at that time.

pagans are mentioned in the bible and most of them are good mentionings.

Answer #2

mostly in the old testament, pagans are anybody who does not reverence god. and god did not want HIS chosen people to live with the pagans because they would be like them.

Answer #3

heathen: a person who does not acknowledge your god

a person who follows a polytheistic or pre-Christian religion (not a Christian or Muslim or Jew)

That’s what Google says a pagan is. Christianity pretty much says any one that does not believe in the bible and god ext they are evil and going to hell.

Answer #4

u will most commonly find reference to pagans in the old testament. under the old testament law the Jew (being God’s chosen people) had to act in ways and follow certain customs to set themselves above other races/people groups. those other people groups were referred to as pagans and unholy people. so in fact unless your parents are Jewish they are/were in fact pagans themselves.

Now days a lot of blind sighted christians read the word and think they are now better than other people, so believe anyone who is not a christian is a pagan.

Answer #5

There are several dozen references to pagans in the Bible. Rather than list them all, I’ll point you to www.biblegateway.com, where you can do a quick search on the word ‘pagan’, and it will list all the references.

Answer #6

Christians often generalize Paganism to mean ANY and EVERY other religious or philosophical practice outside of Christianity. Yeah… wrong… but they often simply don’t know any better…
