Where do I get the birth control pills?

Is it in the pharmacy or the Gp? (doctors) or are they different? I have no idea, me and my boyfriend were gna go to the Gp and ask about it but I was unsure if its there or pharmacy? I just also need to know more about them before I plan to get any, were both 16. Were trying to be safe and prevent pregnancy as much as we can, help??

First of all, congratulations on having a brain and being able to think for yourself about protection.

as for your questions.

you cannot get them over the counter from a pharmacy, you need to have a prescription from your doctor.

however you can get them for free at certain clinics or if you are in the USA, planned parenthood.

Also some pharmacies give you other birth control options like the depo provera shot that you can get without a prescription usually.

Since you are 16, you’re doctor will prescribe one of the lighter pills like yasmin or nordette or something similar for you, so here is a website to read up more about them:

birth control pills can only be prescribed to you by a doctor because there are many different kinds f them all with many different side effects so the doctor needs to determine what kind is best for you and well done on educating yourself and taking the time to go out and get things like protection and birth control because not many kids or teens bother until its to late
