Where can I find a listing for summer/vacation rental homes?

I want to find a listing for summer or vacation rental homes in the that are rent-only and not timeshares. I would like somewhere with a golf course or some sort of open land around it. I only want to rent for a few weeks of the year and I don’t want to spend the cost of a timeshare. Does anyone know where to look?

Try google and do a search on the city you’re looking for… ie Ocean City MD Rentals or Nags Head rentals. You should be able to find SOMETHING in your local area or the area in which you want to travel.

The leading national site is VRBO.com – just about everyone advertises on there. One nice feature about VRBO is they let you drill down to neighborhoods or resorts if you happen to know much about an area or where you are trying to get close to. Then try homeaway.com (they have a network of 5 sites – some are international). Locally try your craigslist.org or the local paper (some newspapers have their vacation rentals listed on the internet). Just about on any classifieds site, really! Just be mindful of fraudulent posters, Craigslist has got a lot of bad press for this lately. Alternatively, you could always try one of the vacation rental sites - I hear new sites like [link removed] and [link removed] are using some kind of friend referral system for good rentals through Facebook.
