At what point does fasting become dangerous? I want to fast, but I don't want to harm my body like I did in the past. I just want to do a detox/cleanse and maybe lose 1-4 pounds (If even that). How many days is it safe to fast for?
I haven't done it in a few years but I actually enjoy fasting. After the first day most of my hunger disappears. A funny thing is that we spend a lot of time preparing food, eating, cleaning up, driving to restaurants, etc. When you fast it is like having several extra hours in your day. I've never fasted over 7 days. The time I went 7 days I planned on at least 10 but I ended up going to a party at some Indian friends and they had lots of yummy homemade Indian food that I just couldn't say no to (I love ethnic foods).
Fasting is not the best way to loose weight. I find that I loose weight faster on a strict diet than I do fasting.
Before fasting you should have a checkup to make sure you don't have any medical conditions that would make this dangerous for you.
Fasting is a great jumpstart to a healthy lyfestyle change. pick a day and fast for about 7-10 days no longer or your body may go into shock but drink cold water and and if in need of some energy grab some rasberrys/blueberrys (no high sugar fruits) and snack on that other, then that water or a healthy shake is ok liquid liquid liquid, thats what a fast basically is. you just might lose that 4lbs but when the suggested days are up ease back into food with soups and veggies! good luck. (ps: all based on your health, if you get dizzy stop and fuel up!)
Yes, the best to way to do de-tox fasting is to drink plenty of liquids, especially juices. Natural juices, that is - not artificially flavored and sweetened. Drink small amounts throughout the day. Stop if you start getting dizzy.
People are different - me, I get awfully irritable if I go without solid food. Others I know can fast (with fruit juices and other liquids) for 2 or 3 days.
Longer than that, and the expert advice is always that you should be 'under medical supervision'.
people do fast for one day normally, for more than on day, dont fast full, take milk and fruits whoel day or eat just once a ady... it can get dang. if you r nt taking anything like not even water and all and its more than a day
