When is enough, enough?

Okay, so my family has 14 pets all together not including aquarium life. We have 7 dogs, 3 cats, 2 ferrets and 2 ducks. And my little brother, mom and I love animals and want more. I dad loves them too but thinks it’s getting out of hand. My mom and I went to the local shelter and saw two adorable dogs, ones a puppy ( a huge puppy) we donpt have any larger dogs, and the other was a Chihuahua mix, but has a life long injurey that didn’t heal right on one of his back legs. I just don’t think anyones going to have a heart to adopt him. So we want both. When is enough, enough? Or is this going to grow, grow, and grow. Just wondering please don’t give me any rude or just plain mean answers, Why do you think it hasn’t stoped, I’ve always had many animals.

Answer #1

why do you think I shouldn’t, I take care of them in everyway to vet visits to the love and care that they need. so …ok? no by the way I adopted one of the dogs from the animal shelter I get him Monday

Thats like nothing compared to the animals I have and its only me and my mum but we have had to cut down because we have too many and its not fair on them if they do not get the attention they need. We have 7 ponies and have just sold one to a great new home but three of those ponies need more than we can give so its rather if you have the time for them all. Um we had 11 dogs at one stage but one has gone to our neighbour who love her and 2 to my mum’s good friend. Its great to have a lot of animals and you never get bored or tired of spending time with them as they are all different individually and its your choice to get more but I’m sure if you have enough love and obviously you will be responsable enough I think you should get both but you have to know what to do with the big puppy as in introduce slowly and dont let it bound up to your dogs (I’m sure you know exactly how to handle new dogs) But you have 4 people to look after them and men always think more than 4 dogs is too much haha. (sorry wasnt ment offensive so please dont take it that way. just a little joke) Good luck and im sure you will make the right decision :)

As long as you can afford to feed them good food, have room to house them…and very important…VET THEM (including neutering and spaying)…then sure.

That is unless daddy puts his foot down…and says no. It’s not fair to the animals to have even ONE person in the home who is open to the idea.

Honestly, I think that is enough animals. But if you can take care of them properly, then thats fine. If you can give them a healthy, good life then go for it.

Answer #5

hahhaha thats so true.everything you said. and yes I know everything about how it is introducing a new dog to the family. All our dogs are on the smaller size, we’ve had bigger dogs but I believe things will work out.

Answer #6

Well you guys know when enuff is enuff. Like Till what point you guys can maintain all animals well fed and clean and all the care the animals need. If you guys can take all that resposibility for ALL the animals then keep getting animals, but you have to remember to just know that as you add to the family of amimals more responsibility will come.

Hi,

Well if its any consolation we have; 5 dogs,2 cats,13 chickens,4 gerbils,1 lizard,11 rabbits and 21(still growing) guinea pigs. AND my mum wants another dog! BUT I definitely would not suggest you have any more animals unless you can be absolutely sure you can cope with them. I takes us ages, but we are very committed and wouldn’t have it any other way. I you feel it would be best that you didn’t have an more pets, than stick to it.

Best wishes xxx
