Whatt can I do while babysitting an infant and a 4 year old?

I have to babysit a 4 month old girl and a 4 year old boy. Emma is very needy because she is a baby. So poor Emanuel is so bored and after I put Emma to bed once I went into Manny’s room and he was crying. He would not let me comfort him and he woke up Emma, so I had to go get her, which made him cry even more. I’m going back to their house tommorow. What can I do with both of them that will make Emma happy and make Manny feel included? I feel so guilty!!! Help me please!!!

why dont you go out side with them? you can play with the lil boy while your payying attention to the baby.. coloring sounds good, or anything just talk to both of them..

Maybe set up some toys for Emma to play with, and set up a scavanger hunt for Manny! I babysat a 4 year old before and he loves that game! Don’t make the game to hard!!!

You could let Emmanuel watch a movie and play a boo or patty cake with Emma just keep them both preoccupied

If you have a movie or something at your house that he would like that he does not have then you should bring it over and start it whenever you have to take care of the infant. It will entertain him long enough until you can come back so you all can play. He just wants attention. You don’t actually have to be involved just watch him and he will be happy!

Try doing some activities with him, that doesn’t need you to be totally included and allows you to take care of emma. I would try play dough, colouring, legos, and whenever you get a spare second go over and see how he’s doing and offer to help him! kids can get so wrapped up in a project if it interesses them they can loose track of time and be all smiles for the rest of the night
