as said already, it's the life changing effect that you learn (if you live on res) through lectures, new friends as well as profesors. it's the imapct of you starting a life on your own that will prepare you for the real world. i've only gone through first year uni, but i can tell you that... sure the dorm partys and late friday shots are fun (once i turned legal)... BUT it's the new ppl you meet that make it worthwhile, it's the new ppl who make you think that "wow" unlike highschool ppl these ppl are REAL - NO DRAMA, pure maturity :)
Getting the proper education you need for a better future. You always learn new things. Sometimes it's not even course related. xD
Other than learning, I think you grow as a person and make some great new connections with people. I had some of the best times with a friend I had met in college. We helped each other a lot. I didn't party much, mind you. My experience was more learning than anything.
