What should I say or do about getting a F?

Well, all of my grades this quarter were pretty good, except in Biology. Yes oh yes, I got the dreaded F. Yeah I KNOW THATS HORRIBLE! Well I know when my Mom sees my report card she is going to get mad and yell at me until I cry. She trusted me to turn in my homework and well I obviously didnt. I feel horrible as it is, as I should, but I dont want to fight and feel bad and cry. I hate that. And the good thing is that my teacher talked to me about it, and that he should of caught it, and that he is going to hunt/haunt me this next quarter. I was glad he told me that, that way I can get it in so I wont have to take over that class next year. I just feel bad about the whole thing. What should I do? Please dont respond if your going to swear, or put me down a whole bunch. Thanks

Awfully sorry macy. I have been there as a student (one year in college I got grades I didn’t even know existed - really) and as a parent. The best thing to do is tell her as soon as possible, since she is going to find out anyway. I know that when my kid(s) avoided or tried to hide what happened, that just mad me more upset. Second, you wrote that you realized you teacher’s hunting / haunting you was a possitive thing, and that he was doing it to help you. Remember that your Mom loves you and is even more interested in helping you, even though she is mad and yelling, what she is trying to do is help you too.

usually when I get bad grades I always tell my mom before the report card comes so that she will already sort of expect it, but the good thing is that your still on time to bring it up and tell your mom that so that she wont get so mad.

Please dont respond if your going to swear, or put me down a whole bunch.

Fortunately, that warning wasn’t even necessary because you don’t sound like you need to be trampled on heartlessly. Tone and attitude count. I approve.

In addition to warning your mother about your upcoming report card, you should sing like Chumbawamba: “I get knocked down but I get up again.” Start doing your homework, start reading your textbook, and get help AS SOON AS YOU NEED IT. You still have half a year to bring your grade up.
