What should I look for when downloading from frostwire/limewire?

If you have Norton 360 installed and running on your computer, that is a good all inclusive security suite. Norton 360 has everything I list below plus more. The only additional program that I would run is PeerGuardian. This program will block millions of sites that are considered problematic.

Generally, download into one folder, and before you do anything scan that folder for hidden problems. And know that the greatest danger lies in executable programs - anything with an EXE extension. Also if you are using a general search term - e.g. ‘anime’ - be cautious of any result that is exactly what your search term is.

But generally, for everybody else. You absolutely need to have an active anti-VIRUS running in the background. If you do not have an anti-virus you need to get one, and for this type of heavy duty work (ie p2p downloads) don’t rely on a free one. They do not continuously monitor your system. Additionally, you will need to have at least one good anti-SPYWARE program. I recommend these three - Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Ad-aware, and Spybot: Search & Destroy - all 3 have free versions from http://download.cnet.com/windows/ A good two-way firewall is always important. ZoneAlarm is the granddaddy of firewalls, and it is what I run. And of course PeerGuardian. Good Luck!!
