What's so wrong with being scene?

Even though most kids I fairly dislike [and heres why] call me “emo kid” they are wayy off; I’m a scene kid. But here’s the thing: most people judge us because of the way we dress,, talk,, act,, mosh,, look,, [[etc]] and that really isn’t fair. Because… what’s SO wrong with being scene? I mean, sure it’s a bit hardcore, but who are they to judge? because honestly it annoys the living daylight out of me. Eh… my parents agree, they should back off. because it’s my choice to be whoever I want to be in life, and they have no say, but the comments still hurt. and deep deep down inside they actually started eating away at me. Eh… so I need advice, what’s so wrong with being scene? and how can I find the way to ignore what other people say?

What people need to stop doing is stereotyping.   Scene, emo, punk.. Whatever.. It’s a style, not a religion. When people start adding random things to the style like cutting and reading twilight..ect ..more actions rather then just dressing in a fashion not a way of life. That’s when you get all these people judging because they make it out to be more then just a style.

Um well people just don’t like it when people label themselves…Pretty much lol. It’s okay, peopel can just suck it! But on that note…why not be yourself? Why be a label? :)

Answer #7

uhm. theres nothing wrong wiht what you do. but when its a bunch of people saying they are individuals while they all look and do the same thing, thats kind of stupid. I mean, I know its the jocks and the preppy gals but, still. its kind of givin them a reason to do it. if you really care what they say, you obviously are scene becuase your friends are and you dont want to be yourself. if you were your own person, youd be fine with whatever they said because you wouldnt care. but you do, so yeah… hop of the “im cool because I dress like this” train, and be some one real. kthnxbai

its sometimes a mean world. Just get help dressing if people make fun of you. Let somene help you when you notice that you are not that good in something. Everryone has something and somethings that are hard for them. Hang in there it will get better if you want it to.

The main reason people hate scene kids is, I think, because they don’t like ‘’mindless sheep’’ (I hate that phrase) who just do whatever’s ‘in’. I sort of get why, but at the end of the day it’s not hurting anyone. And nobody is different, anyway.

Scene kids don’t bother me (as long as they’re not being loud and attention seeking in the same place as I’m in, but that goes for chavs and any other of those types of groups), but when they start trying to claim they’re different or unique, that gets on my nerves… and is rather confusing. Or try to pass scene off as an ‘alternative’ subculture. It’s not alternative if everybody’s doing it. XD So no, there’s nothing wrong with being a scene kid, but it’s not any more special or ‘hardcore’ (?) than anything else. Same goes for any label/stereotype/subculture.

But anyway. Just challenge people to give you a reason why it’s a bad thing. Or if they use that wonderful insult that is stating the bleeding obvious (‘’you’re a scene kid’’) just give them some sarcastic reply and laugh at them. You have to decide, though, if you can handle the comments. If they really get to you, just don’t dress scene, or not so obviously, even if it’s just for a short time, like if you’re having a bad day and really can’t be arsed with some stupid remark. :)
