Oky,so I gt caught shoplifting at jc penney I live in maryland,I steal abt $40 so da manager called da police,and they didnt arrested me dey just told me 2 pay abt $123 somethin like that and told me 2 go 2 court,I was wondring what will they do 2 me in court? Do I need a lawyer? Will it effect ma record?please help me im so scared:'(
I am not a lawyer, but I believe they keep a record while you are a juvenile, and then seal the record when you turn 18. There may be some program that , if you complete it, the offense is expunged (completely removed) from your record. A lawyer, perhaps from legal aid, might be better able to assist in this.
Well you should be scared cause that is a serious offense, you can go to Juvenal Hall for that and it will go on your record. If you feel so bad why would you do it in the first palce you were bound to get caught.
