emo is emotional hardcore and means sadness and?
personally I would say emo is short for emotional. like everyone says,,but its music that is deep and very close to the heart. thats why it is usually about breakups and suicide because thats what can hurt you the most.
and its not just the lyrics that are emotional but the music too. which is why I reckon if its acoustic or screamo its still technically emo,,theyr just different types of emotions.

I like to think of Emo music to be more influence by love and break ups, more on the acoustic side. Emo is emotion, but it doesn't always have to be sad. If you want to listen to some emo music.
