What is the best way to combat a brassy hair mess?

Mmmkay, so my hair is naturally a dark blonde and around the age of 12 I started dying it red or brown. I got bored of this around a year ago and so I started to let my natural colour grow out. Ok annoying no longer blonde (but a mousy brown) so I decided to dye it last week. I used a pre-lightener, followed the instructions to the letter and washed it out. It was orange, I put a blonde hair dye over that as recomended on the packet, it’s now less orange but still quite brassy. I’ve been told my hair is still in okay condition. Is toner going to help at all? Is there any other advice?

Also, try using SoSilver (purple) Shampoo for a few days. I am a stylist and my hair is on the darker side. I am impatient when I color my own hair sometimes so if I take the color off to soon I just shampoo a few days with it and most of the brass it gone. However I agree with the answer above, it would be best to try to recolor and not use an ash this time, you don’t want green hair!

use another golden blonde preferably the same one you used after the pre lightner… ideally if you have darker hair you want to use a dye with ash… but since you have already dyed you hair once an ash might make it blue or green…or gray even…
