What is considered too dressed up for a job interview?

I have my first ever job interview tomorrow at a clothing store. I was thinking about wearing a simple blue sundress with a sweater and some flats. Is that too much for the interview?

Answer #1

No that is not too dressed up at all. For interviews, you can never be too smart. I would say as long as your dress is at least knee length, then that outfit should be fine, but personally I tend to wear a pair of proper trousers and a nice blouse style top or shirt with a cardigan or blazer. You need something you ulimately feel comfortable in, as you don’t want to be worrying about what you are wearing when your mind needs to be focussed on your interview and you being comfortbale will really show through in your confience levels :) good luck.

Truthfully I wouldn’t say a sun dress a sweater and flats is dressy…But like jetc had said you need to wear what your comfortable in, I personally would go for some nicer pants a fitted jacket and a nice blouse. I Hope I Helped :)

if you are dressed in a ballgown for an interview you will look kind of lame,so it is better to dress in a coat or simple
