What has happened to the citizens of the good ol' USA

I am a veryy very patriotic person personally haha even with our debt right now I would rather live here than anywhere. So my question is what has happened to my fellow citizens? Most kids my age are completely uninvolved in politics and foriegn affairs and most older people have lost there respect for our freedom.

what has happened? why do people no longer cherish what they have?

Yea I completely get what you said about Not giving up your values and standing by your beliefs I mean I am one of the most politically involved kids at my school and one of the only ones who wont back down on what I think.

I also think being a soldier is a great thing for you to do Im sure you here that a lot but I mean it lol my cousin just got home from Iraq and well as cheesy as it may sound thanks haha for well risking yourself for this country.

I’m 19 I have been in to Politics for a long time in fact I love to learn more about what is going on with our country…I don’t want anything to happen that will ruin everything we worked up to.. But I believe we are going to fall into something worse then the Great Depression… Maybe things will get better but my honest opinion is that that’s not going to be the case… We are in way to much dept and I don’t believe we are going to be able to do anything about it.

Don’t believe everything you hear from the media because they may be telling Most of the truth but they are filtering it out too…

Oh by the way..I know what you mean a lot of people don’t care about our freedom and truth anymore.

You think the debt will be the end of us?

Imean Im just wondering your opinion

because personally I think we can recover I mean it will be hard and im sure wont happen over night but I believe this country will survive.

Answer #4

Yes, people no longer cherish what they have. I do think that our country is near its end, because of the debt. I do try to be involved in politics.

Answer #5

they take advantage of their freedom.. now kids are on drugs getting pregnant and going to jail. it’s horrible!! I love this country to death! I really do, but I can’t take these people anymore. they make fools of themselves and I don’t want to live in a place like this. we have it so much better than other countries but we just don’t understand and it makes me sick. I wanna go somewhere where people have respect and see the bigger picture for what it is. if we were better then I’d love this country as much as I used to, but as for now, I can’t wait to get out.

Answer #6

* Most kids my age are completely uninvolved in politics and foriegn affairs

So are most adults, and that’s how it’s always been. That’s why the guys in charge can so easily fool us and rip us off.

People have lost faith in the American dream.

Americans used to believe that if they were honest, did what they were supposed to, and worked hard that they would be successful.

My dad lived the American dream. He got his first job at 12 to help out his poor family. He worked hard his whole life and raised his family, built a house in the country that he paid off before turning 30, and in now enjoying a comfortable retirement. He worked at a time when a good employee at a good company didn’t have to fear being downsized or laid off.

I have a university degree, am at the top of my field, but in most ways I’m worse off than my dad. I worry about if the bean counters will decide they can save a few bucks this quarter by eliminating my position.

Since I was born wages have gone up about 4 times but the cost of living has gone up about 6. In effect we are earning a third less than people did before I came into this world. They say that our generation (late baby boomers) will be the first generation that will be worse than their parents but I fear we won’t be the last. I worked my way through college working in restaurants, book stores, bike shops, and temping; it was tight but I supported myself and paid for my tuition and books out of my earnings at these kind of jobs. Now I see kids working the same jobs for about the same amount of money but the cost of everything has gone way up. Now the only way to pay for college for most students is loans so most college graduates start life in debt before even buying their first house. Now that grads are not finding jobs they are stuck with debts that they may not pay off in their lifetime.

Life in America no longer seems like a fair game. People have lost faith in the American dream and that is why nobody cares. They live their lives day-to-day and paycheck-to-paycheck spinning their wheels instead of being engaged.
