I have been told by my doctor that I need to get braces because my jaw is giving me really bad ear pains and that's my only solution. So I did some research on local orthodontics and asked a lot of my friends who have braces and it was a clear decision.
I made an appointment for next Thursday for my first consultation - she says its 40 minutes long. What goes on during this time usually? Just so I'm prepared for whatever.
Yea, I also had braces for about 3 years. They will most likely do that impression stuff and just figure out sizes for wires and brackets and they might but the bands around your teeth to get ready to put braces in. Those brands might have your teeth sore for a couple of days but its no big thing. The only thing that really hurts is if they mess up putting on a bracket and rip it off the same day that hurts like a biatch, everything else will just make you sore and a bit uncomfortable. But in the end its worth it.
first they just check out your teeth and stuff, then they will x-ray your mouth so you'll have to take off any metal jewelry or hair clips. they'll probably do an impression too. thats when they put this sticky silly putty-like stuff in your mouth and have you bite down for about 30 seconds to make an imprint of your teeth.. it doesnt hurt or anything and they might have flavors : ) (I had caramel flavored.. yum)

It will be fine, I got my self all woried about it, but as they said the first appointment don't hurt. I've got my braces on and I'm getting them off in 6 weeks, which means I only had them for a year :D And they don't hurt, I had train tracks and the only time they hurt is when they're tightend, But different people have different things so yeah :) Hope I helped you a wee bit :D
