What do you think of this poem?
This is a poem basically about child abuse. I was watching this music video called AlyssaLies and it was showing child abuse statistics and I just thought this up:
“I saw what was wrong Inside I knew all along He stopped even trying to hide it I think he knew I knew Because he would never look my way Or meet my eyes
But then came the day He wasn’t at school At first, I just thought “Hey that’s cool” But it wasn’t, Once again, he wasn’t there I started piecing it together, People started to talk And word got around That he wasn’t coming back, And then my whole world seemed to crash Reality finally sank it, Like my safety wallks were caving in
I wonder why it took so long for his secret to be found I mean, I saw the bruises And right then I should have decided . . . I realize now, what I should have done But now it’s too late It kills me to know I could have stopped his pain And now I wonder how I could have ever been so dumb
Why didn’t I help him? Was I really the only one who noticed? Why didn’t someone do something? Why didn’t someone realize what was going on? Why did I let him go back there?
If I didn’t, he might still be here”
