What do you do when you wake up with a horrible stiff neck?

Ok so I woke up this morning and let me get started by saying I’ve had a cold for the past threee days, and to top it off I get up and I cant move my head! I cant look down or turn it or look up.. The pain is horrible and on my right side(of my neck/shoulder) I must have slept really weird..what can I do to make it go away faster?? It hurts. ): Thanks.

well dear, there are a few things you an do at this point…

  1. if you have enough money & can afford a professional massage or have a chiropractor then of course that would be your first choice!
  2. if you dont want to spend that much or cant afford it: here a a few tricks you can use… a) try a hot bath…that might help b)if you have this gel called blue ice it comes on cold then warms up the muscle where your stiffness is…and helps release it by someone else massaging it into the whole area and if you ask me a bit all around it. For best results, try locating exactly where the root of the pain is…sometimes its by the shoulder blade…located in the upper part of your back since its the right side I would assume its the upper right part of your back. to loosen it up try some basic techniques like moving your right arm in all sorts of motions like in a circular motion up & down to feel exactly where that point might be located & once you have done that just massage it and work it til you have in the neck area.
Check this video on youtube on how to give yourself a shoulder & neck massage! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvA-Eqe4F1A&feature=related TIP: You dont have to do it just as hard you can do it softer still same effect!!!

Hope you feel better… Good Luck!

omg exact same thing happened to me! Just stay home and ly down on the ocuch (oviviously). put a heating pad on your neck and relax for the whole day. make sure to turn the heating pad on and off every 15-20 minutes or so.
