It depends on the girl. I prefer a guy that is laid back, friendly and has a sense of humor. As for looks, as long as he doesn’t smell I don’t really mind that much.

A nice appearance is always better. But don’t give up your personal style or anything to try and fit into something totally different from what you are. If you’re style is, say, grunge punk, or something, then find a way to neaten it up but still be grunge punk. Also, be friendly. If your head is always down and you don’t look or talk to anybody, no one will feel like they can approach you. Make yourself approachable. A nice smelling deodorant. Colognes can get too strong, so deodorant is always a safe choice. Old Spice or Axe. And also, don’t be somebody you aren’t. It always turns out awkward and plus, acting like somebody else frustrates everybody, not just yourself.

The most important thing is to be a gentleman-but not so dramatic. Put a little joke into it to not make it so awkward. Try to stray from the dinner dates, as it could bring in the extra awkward element. Girls love it when guys are sweet.
