What did my ex-boyfriend mean when he said? He needs time?

Me and my bestfriend has always loved eachother jack became intimate in 07 where I took his virginity. Then it was like we were together but we weent neither of us was ready. But I recently had a baby aug 09 (my baby father isnt in any of our lives) he loved my son he plays with him all the time takes him baths etc. We got into a relationship in oct 09.. Its been great he said hes never been happier. He even talked about moving in with me when I get my apartment but two weeks ago he broke up with me and said he needs time. He hasnt texted or called me since unless I txt him first. He says he wants to still be friends. What exactly does this mean? Time for what?

I think that he is just keeping you at arms length incase he needs you later on… sad to say but he probably wants to play the field…but doesnt want to cut ties because a: you are good in the sack or b: he doesnt want to hurt your feelings…
