What can I use to fix this?

My laptop cord that hooks up to the plug in outlet was under my chair. Now its all ruined, some of the wiring inside is visible. It still charges my computer, it kinda stopped working for a bit but I almost touched it, and it sparked up and what not… soo that Electrical tape… is it safe to use it on there? I dont want to get electricuted or anybody else who uses my laptop. . . . anything I could do?

Answer #1

Is the small wire the one that is frayed or the fatter one that connects to the wall? If it is the fat one be careful as that one has 120V if you live in the USA.

If it is the small one that hooks into your laptop then that one has anywhere between 12-19 volts, still bad but not life threatening. Buy a new one to be safe as you may ruin your laptop.
