What can I do to numb the pain of a gash in my mouth?

I do have a relatively high pain tolerance but its just so annoying to have this gash in my mouth. I have had many before from my braces but this one is the largest. It runs from almost the edge of my lip to the beginning of my molars in my cheek. Unfortunately I also have to wear rubber bands which finds the crevices a very suitable home, to which I highly disagree. Anyway I have ODed on pain medication so many times it really doesn’t have to much of an effect anymore. Is there anything you guys can think of that will help numb the pain and help it to heal faster? Please and thankyou!
