What are your thoughts on Satanism?

Hello im a modern/LaVeyan satanist and I was curious on what others thought of my religion feel free to say anything just curious to see others level of education and opinions.

it all started out with theistic Satanism. And there are other branches that dabble in the occult. More contemporary Satanism practices self worship, which is fine, though a lot of the religion practice and a lot of followers still dabble in the crat(which is why I wont be surprised when it bites them in the @$$ and a bunch of them turn Christian and claimed they were possessed and start speaking out against it). Their “sins” seem to be a mockery of Christianity’s really(though I do like the fact that stupidity is one of their sins XD). Their most important holidays(other than the practitioner’s birthday) is “Hallows” Eve and “Walpurgis”, which is Samhain and Beltane. Christians revered those days to be unholy. They can’t even say the festival’s original name, they still call it by the Christian name. There’s even a ritual that was performed on a regular basis to ridicule Wiccans(though I’m not found of the RELIGION of wicca myself- though I’ve met a few good Wiccans). Most of it seems to be out of rebellion. I really don’t care what anyone practices. But if they’re going to practice something, they shouldn’t be dabbling in something, messing with something they don’t know anything about. They should get all the facts, all the facts, and then take it from there. A lot of them don’t seem to do that;speaking from MY personal experience with them. It seems they only get the biblical or new-aged “satanic” “facts” on their practice, then fooling their selves into thinking that’s all the information they need to know. It makes a mockery of the occult, though I personally wouldn’t include it as being part of it. It’s really just the “darker” half of Christianity. Though many modern Satanist do not have a central deity of worship, that’s how it formed, and that’s all it will be. I understand some rebel against the mainstream, do it to be different, cause adversity, ect. They can do it without using the Christian devil as their icon. And again the ones that do dabble need to stop and get the facts at least(perhaps that’s my biggest agitation with the bulk of Satanist).

I align morally with Anton Szandor LaVey, have for years. I think if you consider Satanism a religion, you’re missing the whole point. Extra-personal deity worship is a primitive crutch, and it is being exploited to manipulate the faith dependent masses into filling the coffers and unifying (borg-style) into a collective god fearing body. As an independent Satanist, I recognize that the only ‘’supreme being’’ or ‘’father of creation’’ is the universe. I call it the Natural Chaos (whatever eh?). I also know that the best and only church or temple, father or even pope, is myself. I pay attention to the universe, the nature going on around me. I read peoples emotions and listen to the cries of this cursed earth. I can do these things because my mind is not bound and weighted by the oppressive guilt and rigorous self abasement of organized or modern religion.

My life is wonderfully entertaining and happy, because I fear no artificial god, I have few material attachments, and I keep myself above and immune to the offenses and negative criticisms of the ‘’lesser’’ folks out there who want something to fight about because their lives are empty. I am my own religion.

there’s my 372 cents regarding this issue =D you asked.

@bellaboo14 Wow I know your 14 but maybe you should read more into the subject before you comment to prevent yourself from embarassment. You might also reread the bible I think you may have gotten some things confused.

Answer #4

Maybe you should learn to spell Satan before you give your opinion…

Answer #5

My opinion is , God died for your sins, not satin! God is the one that loves. Satin is the one that hates.

Answer #6

For me, Satanism depends on the individual practicing it. When I meet those little poser kids who just walk around saying “Hail Satan” And claiming to be Satanists, it pisses me right off. People who look at it and judge it in an educated way and then decide that the ideals behind it work for them, are fine with me. Personally, I read the Satanic bible, and it just didn’t sit so well with me, there were a few points that I agreed with, and some I didn’t, and when I got to one of the last chapters on the magic part of it I set it down and let it be. Congrats on finding something you can agree with though.

Answer #7

I know that kind of stuff is real and I have nothing to do with that stuff in my life, im a christian and Jesus Christ is my lord and savior

Answer #8

the problem with renaming it would be what to name it and how to convince others to change it. Not likely to happen as Satanism is a great name and most of us like it. Satan in Satanism fits because Satan means adversary and Satanism is the opposite of almost every other religion, therefore making it their adversary.

Answer #9

The concept of Satanism is really silly to me considering it has nothing to do with Satan. They should call it something else. Just so they don’t get such a bad wrap you know? lol

Answer #10

thex13thxchild im not sure you got the main point of anything you may have read on satanism. True, satanism does “dabble” in the occult. The majority of your statement seems to be accurate but only towards theistic satanism.(The belief in the devil as a being/god) I still thank you for your opinion.

Answer #11

leevan thank you for your opinion, it was well stated and to the point.

Answer #12

do you enjoy beeing diferent?

what do satanists practice or do?

Answer #13

Personally, I think it’s a would be religion in which dabbles in the occult. It (originally) started out as a rebellion against Christianity(which started as a rebellion against mysticism-so it’s basically a rebellion against a rebellion). All it be is the opposing side of Christianity in my view.

Answer #14

I don’t agree with Satanic ideas. I understand it’s not always about worshipping the devil or what, but I don’t think Satanic philosophy is something to be proud of, honestly.

Still kudos for bringing this up because it takes a lot of courage. Really.

Answer #15

I would consider myself a religion skipper in the past. I’ve researched like every religion until I figured out that I’m just an Atheist. I think Satanism is pretty reasonable and I’ve considered being a Satanist, but yeah just be careful who you tell because people are crazy. :|

Answer #16

As far as I am concerned, it is just another religion. I don’t follow any superstitious non-sense, whether the divinity (?) calls itself god or satan or vishnu or allah or bahá’u’lláh or whatever.

Good Luck!! <<<- the irony doesn’t escape me.

Answer #17

Very nice there diseaseus I agree satanism is more of an ideal / philosophy than a religion.

Answer #18

Same here I looked at them all and picked the one that fits me best ty for your opinions.
