What are these, light or dark reactions?

I have to do this report for school. Anyway, is lactic acid fermentation and alcoholic fermentation a dark or light reaction? And what location is it involved in the cell?

Answer #1

It is neither… Lactic acid fermentation and alcoholic fermentation are both processes that take place in heterotrophs… After pyruvate is produced from the energy payoff phase of glycolosis, it either goes onto the kreb’s cycle and then to the oxidative phosphoralative pathway, only if O2 is present. If not, the electron accepting proteins (NAD) accept electrons from some of the products of glucose, such as the 3-carbon sugars if O2 is not present a. It later oxidizes pyruvate to form Lactic Acid or Alcohol. This still produces ATP via substrate level phosphoralation. Light and Dark reactions are photosynthetic, and do not even produce pyruvate.
