What age would you want your babysitter to be?

Parents on funadvice! What age would you want a person to be to look after your children. I am fifteen and a lot of people have refused to hire me. I am responsible and my parents and my neighbour use me as a babysitter but nobody else will hire me:(

girl if your 15 I would hire you girls are far more mature than boys and more responsible so who ever says no its their loss hope you find work soon goodluck

I don’t have kids, but if I did, I would like them to be looked after by someone I know who is mature and responsible and good with kids. :D

I’m 16 and I feel lots of parents don’t trust people my age with babysitting. In my opinion, it should be judged on maturity not age, but some adults are never going to change their opinion of ‘the youth of today’… good luck! x

My friend does a lot of babysitting, she’s interested in doing childcare when she leaves school, anyway, what she does is ask who she babysits for, for a letter of recommendation, and if they are willing a number they can be contacted on for a reference.

You could ask your neighbour to recommend you to anyone she knows who needs a babysitter. But yeah, I expect people prefer to have someone with checkable references. Ask your neighbour is she can do a reference for you :)
