Ok first of, dont say take him to the doctors, they dont know nothing, they told us that, and also he cant go anywhere really b/c he has no insurance, he cant get any, they wont accept him and we dont have the money to pay out for test and stuff and im asking b/c maybe someone has gone through the same thing or something…moving on… Its been a good month now and my dad just started jerkin in his leg out of no where, now its a jerk not a shake…it started in his leg, moved to arm, then his chest, and his head, he said he doens know when they will hit him, theres no sign before hand, and its left him very weak, he was able to go through this one clinic for test and an mri but it all showed normal and that everything was fine…and the dr said that he didnt know what it was, he gave him some seizure medicine, but its not really helpin and it leaves him ver weak as I said…he doesn hurt wit them nor does he feel sick, the only time he feels sick is when it hits him in the head…its not constant, it just hits at random times has anyone experienced this or know what could be the problem and help? As I said we cant go to any special dr b/c we dont have the money unless he gets referred to oneand also it isn shake its an actual jerk…it gets really nerve rackin watchin him have to go through this…can anyone help??

well I was just diagnosed with a herniated disk and im only 14 which is EXTREMLY RARE like one in every ten billion kids but my disk is sticking out of my spine slightly and I have lately been having twitches and stuff like that so maybe he could have what I have and something could be affecting his spinal cord try getting an mri done on his back the lumbar (lower) and the upper section…I know a lot about this stuff because I’ve been in the doctors office 8 times in the past month from breaking my sacroiliac joint to a herniated disk to having my lungs shut so I could basically be a doctor on the lower half of the body so im pretty confident in telling you to go with getting an mri try telling your doctor to take the mri’s on his brain as well because if you dad is elderly he could be having mental health problems with his spinal cord and brain which may be causing him to malfunction his muscle commands…bet you cant belive im only 14 but I hope I helped and my best wishes to your father too :)

If the doctor put him on seizure medication, it might be in his best interest to keep up with that. The problem with those medications is that you have to find the correct one for your body. I’m epileptic and I had to try 4 different medications before finding the one that wouldn’t make me feel like a zombie.

It doesn’t actually sound like a seizure, but I’m not a doctor, so I can’t say for sure.

Has he been tested for turrets syndrome? Just a thought.

Only the Dr’s can make an accurate diagnosis but here’s some info: http://www.webmd.com/search/search_results/default.aspx?query=leg%20jerk&sourceType=undefined
