Very good at math!?

Who here is really good with math? Like can solve any equation? This questio is mostly going to like young adults but I need help with my hmwrk :p I cant ask my dad cause he dont know that much and he is really busy and dont get home till late. Help please! Thx.

ok, well there’s two ways to do this, and I wish I could remember what their names were, but we’ll call them method 1 and method 2…

method 1 (This equation is better of solved using method 2, but you decide…)

4y + 2x = 24 x = 3y + 2

Step 1: get the x and why on the same side

4y + 2x = 24 3y - x = -2

Step 2: Make both xs into the same value so you can cancel them out

4y + 2x = 24 2 (3y - x = -2) = 6y - 2x = -4

Step 3: Add the equations (Note: you add if the signs are different, you subtract if the signs are the same, so since it’s -2x and +2x, you add so they cancel out, if they were both negative or both positive, you’d subtract to cancel them out) 4y + 2x = 24 6y - 2x = -4

4y + 6y + 2x + (- 2x) = 24 + (- 4) 10 y = 20 y = 2

Step 4: Plug in why to find x

x = 3 (2) + 2 = 8

Step 5: CHECK 4y + 2x = 24 4(2) + 2 (8) = 24 8 + 16 = 24 24 = 24

x = 3y + 2 8 = 3 (2) + 2 8 = 6 + 2 8 = 8

4y+2(3y+2)=24 4y+6y+4=24 10y=20 y=2 now put why in the sec Equation: x=32+2 x=8

so easy I dont know how you cant answer this.

Method 2:

4y + 2x = 24 x = 3y + 2

step 1: insert second equation into first (you have the value for x, so just replace that value in the first equation)

4y + 2 (3y + 2) = 24 4y + 6y + 4 = 24 10y + 4 = 24 10y = 24 -4 10 y = 20 y = 2

Step 2: find x but plugging in y

x = 3y + 2 x = 3(2) + 2 x = 8

Step 3: CHECK (See above)
