Am I throwing up from eating meat?

about 3 months ago I decided to become a vegetarian. a few days ago I started to eat meat again because I wasn’t getting enough protein and I wasn’t healthy. this morning I woke up and have been throwing up and I have a headache and diarreah. could this be because my bodies not used to the meat yet?

one of my friends was raised a vegetarian so he has never ever eaten meat and his doctor actually said if he eats ANY meat he will get sick from eat so he is literally alergic to meat! true story

Answer #2

that could possibly be it. but if you’re worried about not getting enough protein or anything, take some vitamins and iron pills and what not. Also eat a lot of beans, of any kind, and nuts.

Most people eat too much protein. Vegetarians generally eat more protein than they need but at least their intake isn’t as excessive as meat eaters. The best strategy for protein in a vegetarian diet is to eat a variety of healthy foods and don’t worry about it. Nearly any diet that supplies sufficient calories also provides sufficent protein. Protein deficiency is almost unheard of in 1st world countries; that is why I was trying to probe for more information from leelee92.

The current recommended levels of protein by the USDA in our diet are based on rat studies (rats require a higher percentage of their calories to be protein than humans do) and of course that the USDA is largely supported by the meat and dairy industries and in turn the USDA serves to promote these products. Most vegetarians meet even the highly inflated USDA protein requirement without difficulty.

I’ve been a vegetarian for a long time, but over Christmas I eat meat (white, organic) as we eat with members of family a lot and its hard for them to cook a turkey dinner for ten people and then also make my quorn and Tofu dish, so out of consideration at Christmas I put it aside. I never get such awful symptoms and im sorry to hear that you have these. The thing your doing wrong is not eating egg or beansprouts. They may taste nasty, but theyre essential to your diet. When eating meat after long bouts of not doing so you need to introduce the new change slowly by eating egg before you actually eat meat and only eat smallk quantities. Hope this helps.

Answer #5

Possibly.. I have been a vegetarian for 15 years and my doctor says I’m very healthy XD A vegetarian diet is not ‘unhealthy’. If you want to carry on being a vegetarian you need to make it healthy by eating the protein that you are lacking from the meat. Foods with protein in include: -Nuts -Tofu -Soya -Beans -Seeds When you become a vegetarian it’s not just about removing the meat from your diet. You need to replace it with something that will do the same wonders as meat =]

Good luck

Answer #6

When you were a vegetarian what were you eating? Why did you think you weren’t getting enough protein? What lead you to conclude that you weren’t healthy?

I’ve heard stories about long-time vegetarians who got ill when they started eating meat again but they seem to be stories (perhaps spread by vegetarians hoping to keep us in the fold). I’ve known people who hadn’t eaten meat in years but decided to eat meat for a special occasion and nobody I know had any problem.
