I am currently a vegetarian but I would like to go vegan, the problem is my grocery stores don't carry all the vegan ingredients I need, just some. Also I can't purchase things online because my parents don't trust it, so i'm kind of out of luck.
If you cant find the items at big chain grocery stores you need to look in your area for health food stores, whole foods markets, and smaller market stores. Vegan products are usually more expensive though so be prepared to pay a bit more when you do find them. Target sells meat substitutes and alot of vegan products also, have you tried looking there? Other than that you will just have to check labels on things and do your research to find out whats in the ingredients on products to be sure it doesnt contain something your against eating. Be sure to take your vitamins and b12 daily also since alot of vegan diets miss out on alot of important vitamins and nutrients.
If you prepare your own food it is rather easy to go vegan; just use vegan ingredients.
Eating at restaurants and buying convenience foods is another matter. Animal products are not always obvious in lists of ingredients so it is hard to be sure you are eating vegan unless you eat food you prepared yourself or expensive vegan specialty products.
It is pretty tough eating vegan. I did it for about 6 months before giving up and going back to being lacto-ovo.
you could always eat your own poop. lots of vegans do that!
I live in Canada and don't have any targets.
