Unprotected sex, two weeks until period, pregnancy? Please help!

Last night my partner and I had unprotected sex and the condom broke. We had talked about trying to have kids, but since we both are still in college and plan on going to graduate school we decided to hold off. I’m not exactly sure how long my cycles are, but I started my last period on may 7th 2009 and it ended the 14th. So it was exactly 7 days long. I don’t know when I was ovulating, or any of that stuff considering I’ve never had experience in trying to get pregnant or anything.

I eat a healthy diet, I am a cigarette smoker and a social drinker and I work out everyday. I’m just wondering if anyone could tell me what my chances of being pregnant are? And could anyone help me with maybe what days I would be fertile? I”m extremely lost and concerned. Thank you to anyone who can help me out.

Generally, you have a 50% chance of getting pregnant if he ejaculates inside you. Other factors could change that but I’m not sure how. I’m not a doctor. You’re most fertile the last couple of days before you start your period. I wouldn’t worry too much. Just wait and if your period doesn’t come, take a test.

How can you be having unprotected sex, WITH a condom?

Regardless, did he ejaculate inside you? Or did you stop when you realized the condom broke?

There’s not really any way to ‘calculate’ your chances of conception in this case. You’ll just have to wait a few weeks and the take a test, or see your doctor.

Sorry to tell you this, but you had sex at the worst possible time, if you’re on a 28 day cycle.

If your period arrives regularly every 28 days, then your most fertile day would have been May 21, and just to be safe, you would normally consider 3 days before and 3 days after that, as your truly fertile time. So that was not a good date for the condom to break.

Now… if your normal cycle is every 33 days, for example, and not every 28 days, then your most fertile time would be the 7 days surrounding May 26.

It’s usually 14 days BEFORE the beginning of your next period. The length of your period has no relevance - what’s important is the day it starts, not the day it ends. Be aware that there are always exceptions… this is just what occurs with most women, most of the time. It’s far from foolproof.
